 |  | This fall, ACVA will be reaching a big milestone --- celebrating its 15th year as a nonprofit educational organization providing knowledge, and now additionally through social media services, to learners of Vedic astrology around the globe. |
On November 22, 1999 the American College of Vedic Astrology™ (ACVA) received word from the Internal Revenue Service that the American College of Vedic Astrology was granted 501(c)(3) non-profit educational status. This allows the college to receive charitable gifts, grants and endowments for resource development...
So now we are at this 15 year milestone which is great. For one thing, it means we've achieved a major goal and something's going right.
ACVA's mission statement "Expanding the Quality and Reach of Vedic Education" is still as applicable today as it was 15 years ago. We continue to work in partnership with best-in-class Vedic astrologers and course designers who have a vision similar to our own. Even though our mission has not changed, we have remained flexible to the changing needs of our clients. We are always looking for ways to expand and sustain success and assure that we are delivering value to our learners
We thank our faculty, instructors, learners, staff, and supporters deeply for the last 15 years of business they shared with us. At the time of our 15th anniversary we look to many more years of helping learners of Vedic astrology continue to move upward and onward in the area of quality educational content delivered within reach of anyone, anywhere, and anytime.
To emphasize ACVA's appreciation for the last 15 years, we've listed 15 special things that we in ACVA think are worth celebrating about.
Fifteen Reasons for ACVA to Celebrate
1. We've Kept Technologically Up-to-Date
As technology and the software industry are constantly changing and developing, so are we! ACVA continues to implement new ways that will take learning Vedic astrology to the next level.
2. We've Survived and Kept ACVA Strong
We learned this lesson the hard way in 2009. Our philosophy was all about keeping the entity of ACVA strong and honoring its heritage and connections to Dr. B.V. Raman and the culture of Vedic education Through a labor of love, and honoring our commitments to Vedic education, ACVA is positioned to bring Vedic education further yet into the 21st century.
3. We Defined Clear Goals, Objectives and Roles
While our goals have shifted over time, in order to meet the needs of our learner base, the clarity with which we continue to define and execute our responsibilities has not.
4. It's all about Service and Learner Experience - not Just Money
ACVA is a professional learning services organization - we're a non-profit school. Our priority is learner educational outcomes and satisfaction. If a learner has not gained the satisfaction of attaining new knowledge then ACVA has missed its mark.
5. We've Created Lots of Learning Content
ACVA has successfully used technology to assist and magnify the effectiveness of Vedic teaching in a modern world. ACVA has worked to create accessible learning content and to offer educational opportunities that are relevant to the needs and demands of Vedic modern day astrology learners.
6. We've Stayed Pure
Maintaining and adapting the traditional values of Vedic knowledge to a modern world. Parashara, one of the original innovators of Vedic astrology education, stated that one not only needs to know the content of Vedic astrology, but they need to know the context in which it is used.
7. We've Provided a Productive Educational Model
We reach learners around the globe. ACVA has evolved a blended learning model that takes the best of technology-assisted, online learning and merges it with traditional classroom course design. Learners are offered the opportunity to learn in a group, learn with an instructor only, or engage in self-paced learning where they set the speed at which they wish to acquire new knowledge.
8. We've Developed a Passionate, Hard-working Staff and Support
We've been blessed by a dedicated Board of Directors, Steering Committee and volunteers that want to help ACVA find the right way to achieve it's goal.
9. We've Engaged Very Smart Webmasters and Course Designers
Providing an exceptional educational experience to our learners.
10. We're a Great Learning Community
First and foremost, ACVA has been the leader in innovative Vedic educational methodology. We offer our learners the wisdom and experience of several years to help them get more value out of their time, financial, and technology investments.
11. We've Provided Global Reach
We are sensitive to the time zone restraints of a global learning organization and tailored Webcasts and at-a-distance learning opportunities accordingly.
12. We've Created a Vast Digital Audio Library
Our Vedic astrology subject matter experts from around the world have provided lectures on a wide range of topics. We've invested time and energy into converting older audio cassette recordings into MP3 versions that meet the need of modern, digital listeners.
13. We've Asked for and Gotten Help
ACVA has a lot of friends that respect and admire our mission, and it is up to us to ask them from time to time to help us. Sharing our needs and wants has generated many supporters who have helped us move in the right direction.
14. Treat Our Members like Family
While it requires business acumen to run a professional organization, we have learned from watching other heart-centered organizations that it is also about the human capital in an organization. They deserve our support, kindness and what little help we can give.
15. We're Having Fun and Celebrating Every Day!!
After 15 years of growth and success, we can't wait for what's in store for the next 15!
